At the end of March, we were able to see the first picture of our new little one via ultrasound and watch the heartbeat on the screen. How amazing it is to see a heartbeat rabidly beating at only 6 weeks, and I have to say, it is JUST as surreal, emotional, and exciting to experience this the second time around as it is the first. How anyone could watch a little heart beating like that and ever doubt that there is a God is beyond me!
On June 18, we also learned that this precious new baby is a little GIRL!! We decided to do something different this time, and have a gender reveal party with our closest friends and family. Ryan and I thought it would be super neat to find out what this new baby was going to be at the same time as some of the most important people in our lives. It was SO hard to go into our ultrasound the day before knowing that I couldn't find out, but I am now so glad that we did it this way. It was so much fun to share this with everyone, and the anticipation made it that much more exciting. We decided to have Payton be the one who took a big bite out of the special cupcake that contained either pink or blue filling indicating if we were getting a little boy or a little girl. She LOVED getting to do this, and we could not have been more excited to see pink filling show up all over Payton's face! I kind of had a feeling all along that this baby was going to be a little girl, and I am so glad that Payton is going to get a sister that will be fairly close to her in age. As for Ryan, in the words of his mother, he is just destined to be around women! Haha! Honestly, it just feels right to be welcoming another little girl, and I think this is just a reflection of how God really does know the perfect fit for every parent and family. :)
There are so many emotions that we are experiencing this time around, some old and some new. It is so hard to fathom that in several months, we will have another little one that we will love and care for just as much as we do Payton. Sometimes, it seems impossible to have that much love to give, but like everyone tells us, we know we will! Also, I think the first time around, we were like most new parents and were a bit naïve. Now, we know it all, the good and the bad! lol! I do think its normal, at least I hope so, to be somewhat anxious/ nervous as we wonder what life will be like with 2 little ones. We know there will be an adjustment period as we settle into our new "normal," as a family of four. However, we could not be more grateful to God for his abundant love and blessings. How privileged we feel to again be entrusted with another precious life. As I am quickly learning on my parenting journey with Payton, by casting all of my worries, anxieties, and fears upon Him, I will always be provided with a sense of calming and peace that only He can give! How blessed we are to serve such a loving God!
Oh how we cannot wait to meet our new little Miss in less than 20 short weeks! :)
