Spring!!

Welcome spring!!  How nice it has been to finally enjoy a week with some beautiful sunshine and warm air that we have so desperately been hoping for the past couple of months!  I must say, with an energetic little toddler running around, one gets a little stir crazy staying cooped up inside, so Ryan, Payton, and I have been very grateful for these gorgeous spring days! Spring is always a time when I am reminded of and am extra thankful for God's beautiful creation, and watching little Payton marvel at the beautiful flowers, point to birds and clouds, and get so excited just to "be outside" is another reminder of how often we take so much for granted!

As usual, a lot has happened since my last post.  In February, Ryan celebrated his 30th birthday.  Payton and I threw him a surprise party with all of his close friends and family members, and for those of you that know Ryan, you will understand why I got a lot of enjoyment out of actually "surprising" him. Lol! It's funny how turning 30 all of a sudden doesn't seem quite as old as it did 5 years ago!  All in all, things turned out pretty good and it will definitely be a day we will always remember.

Also, since my last post, our little Payton Elaine celebrated her 2nd birthday.  I cannot believe she is already TWO!!  Just like the morning of her first birthday, I woke up the morning of her 2nd birthday and couldn't quite contain the tears. Haha!  Again, it was kind of a bittersweet day.  I always get so emotional when I think about everything that is wrapped up in this thing called parenting.  I wouldn't be being honest if I said that things were always smooth sailing, that every moment was a "happy" moment, and that the "right thing" to do is always crystal clear.  We are FAR from having this parenting thing figured out, and there are days when I question everything I do, and moments in the midst of a two-year old meltdown in public, when I look at Ryan with that "where am I going wrong?" look.  However, thankfully, God also provides us with moments that completely melt our hearts and remind us of how He continues to work through us as parents and will take care of it all if we simply seek Him first, ask for His guidance, and trust Him with our whole hearts. There is nothing more fulfilling as a parent than to watch your two year old talk to God, sing songs to God, and tell others who made her and loves her.  If we can't get anything else right as parents, THIS is ENOUGH for me!

We had a great day on Payton's birthday going to the indoor waterpark at French Lick, having an Elmo birthday party, and simply celebrating her!  Payton Elaine- Every moment we spend with you is the greatest blessing!  We are so thankful God placed the three of us together, and we cannot wait to see where He leads you in life.  We love you with a love that we didn't know existed until you came into our lives.  Happy Second Birthday Sweetheart!!

Happy Birthday!
