First Thanksgiving!!

We had such a great Thanksgiving weekend! It is so nice to enjoy a long weekend with friends and family.  Also, it was nice to reflect on our many wonderful blessings!   Miss Payton didn't feel too good; we found out a week later that she had her first ear infection.  She was a trooper though, and was still her happy little self.  We finally got the Christmas tree up in the house.  I thought for sure I would have to block it from every direction since Little Pay is on the move, but she doesn't seem to even notice it is there.  Haha!  I don't think I will risk putting wrapped packages under it though.

Daddy has been gone all week on business, and boy are we ready for him to come home!  Even though it will be close to midnight before his flight gets in, I just know he will have to wake up Payton as soon as he comes through the door.  He sure loves his little princess!

First Halloween/ Baby on the Move!

So, this post is way over due, but we have been busy, busy, busy!  Miss Payton was definitely spoiled by friends and family as our little flower celebrated her first Halloween.  Also since our last post, we now have a crawler baby!  Payton has been on the move for some time now but never actually had the crawling motion mastered.  That all changed this week as our little Princess eagerly took off across the room in a race to get to daddy's laptop. lol!  This has definitely made things much more exciting at our house.  We are still working on getting those teeth to come through.  She's got 2 on the bottom and judging by the night we had last night, I am pretty sure we are cutting some more.  Poor girl!

Ryan and I are super excited to celebrate our first Thanksgiving as a family of 3 this week.  Boy do we have so much to be thankful for!  Not only have we been blessed this year to be first time parents, but we have also been blessed with a tremendous support system of friends and family who love Payton like their own!  God is so good!

Fall Days! / 7 Months Old!

The Legg household sure has been enjoying this beautiful time of year!!  The awesome weather and gorgeous changing colors have sure made us want to spend a lot of time outside.  We have been super busy since my last post, so I am taking some time out of this day to reflect on and thank God for all of our wonderful blessings!

Miss Payton is now 7 months old and is incredibly healthy, happy, and active!!!!  We could not be more blessed!  She also has 2 teeth!  I have been wondering for a while when these teeth were finally going to cut through, and now that they have, Payton sure is a lot less cranky.  She is also sleeping much better!  Thank goodness!  She is still super close to crawling, but has yet to get it mastered.  She is definitely mobile, but when it comes to the actual crawling motion, she can't move forward very far without taking a nose dive into the carpet.  Poor girl!!  I have about decided that I don't want to rush this though, she already seems like she is growing way too fast.  As far as sitting up by herself, she is definitely a pro!!

I am starting to learn that this little princess is going to be a pretty picky eater.  I don't know why this has surprised me, for she is just like her father in every other area, I was just really hoping that she would take after me when it came to eating.  I feel like I tried my best, (tried all the veggies first, tried homemade food, tried heating it up, tried not to wait until she was too sleepy, etc.) but pears and bananas seem to be about all that interests her.  The girl would rather starve than eat the veggies; however, if she eats any amount of solid food, she sleeps so much better.  So needless to say, this girl gets a lot of pears and bananas!  Her absolute favorite is banana yogurt, but we try to just make this a special treat.  :)

Since my last post, Payton got to have another sleep over at grandma's.  I was in a wedding of a close friend of mine, so my parents volunteered to keep Payton for the evening.  She seems to be getting better at staying with people, so hopefully our separation anxiety is improving!  We have had a little more traffic around our house lately, and I am thinking that being around more people has been a good thing for her.  Laurna, one of my closest friends, has been staying with us while her twin boys are in th NICU at St. Mary's.  Although I don't see her a whole lot during the days due to the fact that she is a great mother and always with her boys, I have so enjoyed spending our mornings and evenings together!!

As I have said numerous times before, having Payton in our lives adds so much more joy and happiness to everyday things.  Even on days when I am completely exhausted, haven't had time to shower, and been stuck in the house for several days, there is honestly nothing else that I would rather be doing!!  I am completely confident that there will not be anything in my life that I will ever do that will leave me more fullfilled, challenged, over-joyed, or complete!  :)  It's funny, because even at this age, I have quickly learned that I need her just as much as she needs me.  As we move into this time of year, I am so excited to get to celebrate Payton's first holidays, and I really hope to not get caught up in all the hustle and bustle that I forget to really enjoy the little things.  If there is one piece of advice that I always hear when talking to experienced parents it's that it just goes SO fast, so you better make time to enjoy it all!  This is what I am praying that I don't forget to do.

Happy Girl!!

Miss Payton was especially happy this afternoon, and we were absolutely loving every minute of it!  It must have been those few bites of chocolate pudding I let her taste. Haha!  What a blessing she is!  :)

6 Months Old! :)

Miss Payton celebrated her half birthday this month, and I celebrated my first birthday as a mom!  September is always a fun month for us.  We have so many family birthdays and the cooler weather finally starts to arrive.  These first few weeks leading into fall have been filled with lots of get-togethers with family and friends and time outside.

We cannot believe our little princess is half-way to one!  She is growing so fast.  I have said many times that I am really enjoying this stage with Payton.  (Of course, I have so enjoyed every stage, but all of the smiles, laughing, cooing, and jabbering have definitely made this one loads of fun!)  We had our 6 month check-up yesterday.  Little Payton is 27 inches tall and weighs 15 lb 14 oz.  Poor baby girl had to get 3 more shots.  This definitely never gets easier for mom!
'
Payton is now sitting up without support, saying the word "da da," (even though we know she doesn't know what it means) and is SO close to crawling- she gets up on all fours and scoots backward.  She also reaches for Ryan and I now when she wants to be picked up.   In addition to all of these new developments, she is also starting to experience a little separation anxiety.  Ryan and I have tried to go out on 2 different occassions and left Payton at our house with close friends.  These night outs ended a little sooner than expected due to Payton being upset.  However, our pediatrician assurred us that this was completely normal at this age, and I think mommy experiences the same thing when she's away from little Payton for very long!  lol!  However, Payton needs to get over this, because we joke that she is scaring away all of our babysitters!  haha!

Life with Payton continues to get sweeter by the moment, and there is not a day that goes by where we are not thankful to God for this amazing gift!  We love you Payton!!!!!!!!

Big Girl! :)

We can't believe how old Payton is starting to look in all her photos!!  My goodness, she is growing.  We just know she will be crawling soon, as soon as she can figure out how to get her tummy off the ground, haha! She has also been much more vocal lately.  We actually had to step out of church last Sunday because she was talking so much.  Also, she has just started reaching for people.  She reached out for me this week, and it just melted my heart!!

Mommy and Payton have sure been enjoying our days at home!   We have been trying to savor those last few days of summer by taking lots of walks in the stroller and playing in the pool!  :)
